Licensed Professional Counselor and
Marriage and Family Therapist

welcomes you!

Respect. Aretha Franklin sang about it; Rodney Dangerfield couldn't get any of it; therapist and author Susanne Slay-Westbrook has made it the cornerstone of the work she has dedicated herself to for the past 23 years.

Susanne is the founder and owner of A World of Respect, a respect-based counseling and psychotherapy practice that helps couples, families, groups and individuals of all ages improve their relationships and behavioral and emotional conflicts at home, school, work and play. Her clientele include people who have or are experiencing relational difficulties, depression, sexual abuse, child behavioral issues, anxiety and other mental health issues.

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?”

—Mary Manin Morrissey

Old patterns of behavior and thought need not hinder you from relating well with yourself and others.

Respect-based therapy is helping people resolve conflict and overcome the affects of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and life transitions

A World of Respect is also the title of her debut book, which was published in 2001. The nearly 200-page book emphasizes the urgent need to recapture the art of respect for one's self and for others.

In addition to her book and practice, Susanne creates a world of respect as a public speaker offering standard and customized speeches to groups and organizations on many subjects.

As of January 2009, Susanne will start a new blog. Please check it out.
